Do people see in you what really motivates you or do they see something else?
Take Fred, he works in manufacturing. Every day Fred is analysing data and looking for ways to deliver the required business metrics. He is often consulted on how to make things more efficient, or methods to improve processes. Many of the questions that are asked of Fred relate specifically to a task and bottom line improvements. Fred is great at this, and possibly one of the more knowledgeable people in the business. But what he really wants to do is provide coaching and mentoring support to people to allow them to grow and develop – making things more efficient or better for themselves.
In order to be authentic in a role, and have a great job or career, you absolutely need to do work that stretches you and meets your aspirations and needs. This involves uncovering your inbuilt strengths / skills and working to them.
You are a unique individual. What’s great is that no-one has your skills, your personality, your history or your viewpoint all combined together. If they had, then they would be YOU!
So what can you do to further enhance your existing skills and strengths AND work towards incorporating the things you love into your work?
